I haven't ever seen or heard about it being done. I have heard a few rumors about someone who'd put a Corvette engine in theirs. However, it'd be a massive job since the only things "Chevy" about the Tracker are the badges, and the rest is all Suzuki. I imagine you'd be in for replacing everything from the motor (obviously) the transmission, and possibly axles since the 4.3 has more power, so you don't want to break any axles.

It's definitely possible though, all you need to do is figure out suspension, mounts, probably new driveshafts, and likely several other things. But gutting everything also means you get a clean slate to start with. I'd check out the Suzuki Forum for all the specifics, it's got a lot of great people able to tell you just about everything you'll need to know about it.

I would not risk thousands on an untried engine swap that may never work? If I wanted a bigger engine I'd bolt in the Suzuki 2.7L (185 HP). Here are the specs:

The H27A is a modern version of the H25A, a reliable displacing 2.7L (2,736 cc), coming from an 88 mm × 75 mm (3.46 in × 2.95 in) bore and stroke. Added VVT in 2006. The engine is tuned to achieve most of its torque at low revs at the expense of raw power at high revs, making the engine very responsive in day-to-day driving. It produces 138 kW (188 PS; 185 hp) at 5,350 rpm and 250 Nm (184 lbft) at 3,300 rpm.[3]

Applications:

· 2000 - 2009 XL-7

· 2006 - 2008 Grand Vitara **Only in North American Markets

Don't want to chance a used engine? You can buy a rebuilt one online. It's expensive but still cheaper than a conversion to a 4.3 Vortex engine.

Suzuki makes two bigger engines but I don't know if they bolt in to a second gen Tracker:

HFV6 — 60° DOHC 24-valve V6 Or you could triple the horsepower of your J20 by swapping it for a Suzuki WRC rally engine.
