Default AC Fuse keeps blowing

Hi all

I have a 2002 Tracker ZR2 (2.5L DOHC V6) with an AC fuse that blows everytime I turn on the AC. I heard a loud squeal coming from under the hood the night before this started. I have been driving it for about a week with no AC, around 250 miles, no squeals. So I have a couple of questions.

1. Is my belt going to break and leave me stranded?

2. What should I expect to spend repairing this?

Thanks

Thanks Kevin
Is this a DIY job or should I have it done by a mechanic?

I took mine to a reputable shop. You'll have to recover the system, then pull a vacuum on it to check for leaks, and if the compressor "ate itself" the system will have to be evacuated. Also if you buy a compressor without the clutch, you have that to deal with.

Thanks again Kevin
I did some more snooping around and i agree, this isn't something I want to tackle on my own. I did talk to a good mechanic friend and he told me I should be all right driving it this way through the winter. As long as the pully is spinning. It does appear that the clutch is cooked. He said as long as I don't replace the fuse, the clutch won't try to kick in and cause more trouble.

Now my next question is ... where in blazes is the pcv valve? I found a blow up that says it should be at the back end of the valve cover on the drivers side but I must be blind because I'm not seeing it. Any ideas?
