hello all, new to the forum. I need help, trying to locate the pcv on wifes 2003 tracker and replacement. thanks in advance.

If you are referring to the 2.5 v6, its at the back of the engine on the drivers side. It runs underneath the intake manifold and plugs into the valve cover. Its kind of hard to see but you can pull it out without having to take anything off. Mine had a green ring on it. I just changed it and got rid of my P1074 engine code.

 

I felt and looked all pver the manifold on the drivers side of the engine and could only find a sensor in the back. Do you have to get under the car to see it?

 

Not on the 2.5 V6 engine.

 

Got an image of where the PCV valve is on the J20 engine please ? .

Trying to get this 2000 MY through Ca. emissions test, I need to forward catalytic converter too, can't seem to find it anywhere .

Not familiar with the 2.0 engine but maybe this engine view will help.

RockAuto says they CARB compliant converters (front and rear)

Sadly, when I try to order those CATS from Rock Auto they pop up a message saying they're NOT CARB compliant so they refuse to sell them to me nor ship them .

Go figure .
By copying the part #'s I was able to find the secondary Cat. and the gaskets on E-Bay, not the nifty springs and bolts however .

The primary / upstream cat. I cannot find anywhere, google shopping etc so I'm not sure what I'll end up doing .

My printer appears to be haunted ~ often it flat refuses to print at all .

I like using what I call "cheat sheets" : diagrams like this that I can take out to the job and scribble notes on as I go along .

The emissions test that failed today gave me a couple codes, one if evap. system so I will soon begin trying to find the correct METRIC size vacuum hoses, there's a bunch .

If you have an EVAP leak and it's not the gas cap, you may save yourself a lot of time by having someone smoke test the system.

It's refreshing to deal with someone who actually understands how these things work .

The read out I was given on the failed test said 'passed smoke test' although he didn't do one, all he did was plug in the tester to the OBD II port .

When I replaced the alternator I had to dismount the activated charcoal canister and two of it's hoses had cracks where they slip onto their nipples so I want to replace them any way .

I also doubt the PCV valve has ever been touched much less cleaned / serviced so it's good to do the basics that are likely to need doing .
