need a honest opinion. now to a tracker
I recently traded my 2004 polaris predator 50th anniversary for a 2000 chevy tracker 4x4. It has 82000 miles. No issues or cel on. New tires and brakes 4x4 works great. Perfect suv except that it has a salvage title due to a tree brach falling on it and the previous owner went threw the insurance process with it. It doesn't leak, they had it filled in with bondo or fiberglass. Just cosmetic damage. My question is what is a fair re-sale on this car? Thanks everyone!!
You dont say where you live (wish people would) Im in Calgary Alberta Canada.
This is the deal here with "SALVAGE" titles. Once an insurance company "Writes Off " a car, truck, etc etc.....ITS SCRAP as in good for PARTS only. Yes there are shops that can LEGALLY recertify a title, but have to follow strict guidlines, set out by.....you guessed it.....the insurance companies and the government. These guidelines are contained in 7 manuals (Alberta) each province is different. The inspection costs $475 and its an extensive one, MUCH more than a safety inspection......thus the 7 manuals. Anything that fails this inspection has to be brought back to AS NEW condition. So you get the idea....your not passing this inspection (His BIZ licence is on the line) but your welcome to fix whats wrong....pay another $475 and have another run at recertifacation. The whole car has to pass this inspection. Ie; brakes, tires, all suspension, etc, etc and the list goes on,and on. Long and short, when they say its"SALVAGE" they mean it,and unless your willing and able to spend thousands putting the thing into almost showroom condition...well its just not worth it. BEEN THERE DONE THAT
