This is the start circuit for a 2001 Tracker. Pin numbers and color codes may be different but the general start circuit should be
similar. The CPP is a "normally open" momentary switch mounted on a bracket above the clutch pedal. If you suspect the CPP
is not making contact when the clutch pedal is depressed, remove the connector from the CPP switch and jumper the contacts
inside the connector. If the engine cranks the switch is either bad or out of adjustment.

Awesome troubleshooting. I hope you'll report back after the starter swap. I'd like to know how difficult a job that is.

Good morning
had to get a new starter Was going to rebuild but magnets broke, front bearing gone surprised it ever started. It is a 2 person job to remove and install but only about 35 min each
I'm now looking for some small parts looking for the 2 metal brackets that hold the license lights and cover the handle to open the tailgate if anyone know where or where I can get the spec so we can manufacture some ?

Nice work on the starter.

I could not locate the brackets you are looking for. This was a close as I could get.

Oddly, the Chevy service manual implied there were two license plate lamps.

But the Chevy schematics only show one lamp. I only had one lamp burning so I wasn't sure which diagram was correct.

For the record, there are two license plate lamps (shown here in the Suzuki manual).

They are 12-volt W5W (Wedge socket, 5 Watt) bulbs which cross to a Sylvania 168. The bulbs pull straight out.

No tools are required but the plastic lenses are a challenge to pop loose. Twist them 1/4 turn counter-clockwise to remove.

They should look like this when they are working correctly.
