definitely looking for a scanner, thanks for the info! OK so I managed perform the injector current test I think I did it correctly, Put the clamp around the positive wire on the injector? it yielded no reading? 12 volts key on to injector. thoughts?

This is the fuel injector diagram for a 2001 four-cylinder. The Main relay should energize when the ignition switch is in RUN. That should provide 12 volts to the top of all four injectors. The injector will energize when the PCM supplies a ground. Try to back-probe one of the pink wires on the injector connector with a jumper wire. Tap the jumper wire on some metal part of the engine. You should hear the injector pulse. Turn the time/div selector on your scope to the something like 1 sec/cm. See if the current probe will display the current pulse when you tap the ground. Don't tap too many ties in a row or you will hydro-lock that cylinder with liquid gasoline.
ok my attempt's to back probe the injector connection, with my Harber freight probe set feels like I'm damaging the injector connection. unfortunately, my schedule wont allow me to work on it for two days . what was the name of the scanner you bought SKY ? TECH 2 CLONE i looked on ALI EXPRES NO LUCK!
Use a multimeter to check the sensor's resistance and compare it to the manufacturer's specs. You can also use an oscilloscope or a diagnostic tool to check the signal from the CPS while cranking the engine.
Wow! They seem to be harder to locate now but I found this one. I have messaged them asking if they can provide the GM module. I'lll let you know what they say.
If the car is older than 1996 it won't be OBD2 compliant. If the car is anything other than a General Motors vehicle you don't want the Tech2 scanner I have. Autel has several $500 scanners but I haven't done enough research to make a recommedation. Autel scanner
