This is the most useless, pathetic forum I've ever seen, glad my other vehicles are Fords!

You're probably right. The Tracker is a 99 four door, green, 110,642.3 miles, tires are about half worn, it has a few native bugs on the windshield, and is normally driven in a north to south and south to north direction. I will wait for the replys to flood in. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply Einst, but I was kind of looking for somebody who had the same problem and actually fixed it, not an armchair mechanic. The system is quite simple and after my tests the fuel vapor canister fails the test described in my Haynes manual but in my experience with other cars they very, very rarely are the culprit. There is a purge valve but that is working properly. I suppose I should replace this first but they are hard to find and very expensive and I'd like to hear from some people who had similar experiences.
