Default Rear Axle removal '03

Hi all, My GF owns an '03 Tracker cvt. 2.0 Automatic. Recently I rotated the tires and removed the drums to look at the brakes. The driver's side was soaked with axle grease. I bought some new shoes and both grease seals, but my mechanic tells me the axle won't come out. Can anyone explain or provide me with a link explaining how to remove it?

Thanks

Default same problem

I have a 2002 tracker where the rear axle will not come out. You have to remove the tire, remove the brake drum as well as the plastic cover. There are 4 bolts that hold the axle in.You should remove the brake shoes ( either take a pic of the brake assembly or search the net for an assembled one, easier for reassembly ). From my understanding you use a yoke with a slide hammer attached to remove the axle. I haven't found a yoke to fit my tracker, but good luck mine seems to be stuck in there.
