Default Tracker 101: intro to ABS

This is the Antilock Brake System (ABS) controller in my 2001 Chevy Tracker. The Suzuki service
manual refers to it as "Type 1." GM calls it the DBC-7. Supposedly the DBC-7 was used on the
1999, 2000 and 2001 Trackers. It consists of two parts: the Electronic Brake Control Module
(EBCM) and the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV).

In non ABS mode the brake fluid pressure from the brake pedal passes straight through the BPMV as if it weren't there.
But when the ABS kicks in this what happens:

An animation can be seen at the 10:00 minute mark of this video

This is the EBCM connector.

These are EBCM functions on each pin.

Removing the connector is a little tricky.

This is a composite of the EBCM/BPMV. It's too big to post on this forum so I have upload the full-size original to Dropbox.
Go to https://www.dropbox.com/s/g7cox3mpvf...matic.jpg?dl=0 , "save image as" and rename it EBCM.jpg.

Note: The EBCM sends an idle-up signal to the PCM during ABS operation to decrease engine braking. Engine braking on icy serfaces can reduce ABS effectiveness.
