Default Wheel Stud Replacement

I have a 2000 Tracker 4-Door. The rear has drum brakes. There is a broken wheel stud that I need to replace. I am finding that there is no room for the stud to be removed or new one inserted because of the brakes. Do I have to disassemble the entire drum internals, or is there another way to replace this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I've always done, is take a ball and peen hammer, straight punch, knock the old one out, insert nee lug bolt, with lug nut, and tighten it down till the lug bolt is seated in the hub.

So even though it seems like there's really nowhere for it to go, just give it a whack and see what happens? I was concerned with damaging brake parts.
