2004 TB LS - Should I buy it?
Hello everyone,
New to the TB forum but not new to forums in general. I may be trading in my 2005 Subaru WRX Wagon (24K) for a 2004 TB LS (35K) w/ tow package. I have found in the past that forums are a great place to get a quick opinion on whether I am getting a raw deal or whether I am hitting "the good buy". The Subaru is in very good condition as is the TB, both have nice clean undamaged paint and near perfect interiors. The Subaru and the TB both come within $750 at KBB for "trade-in value" and also "delaer-sell-price"..... yet the dealer wants to give me much less for my Subaru (near $2000 even though it was bought new THERE and service THERE). They are asking $16,999 for the TB with 35K on it. This truck is in great condition and I like it a lot, fell in love driving it within 5 minutes. The main reason I am looking to switch is because the Subaru is just a tad bit small for my growing family and other needs, the TB is perfect size and the gas mileage is reasonably close.
I am located in SE Wisconsin and have little familiarity with the value of TB's although I looked this weekend at dozens of them varying in year and purchase price. This TB will need tires (original my guess) but nothing else looks worn or damage/broken. Is the value of this truck right where the dealer has it? is it a little low? is it high?
I'm open to discussion and questions I may be able to answer if anyone can think of things I should look for. I may be buying the truck within a couple of days unless something falls through.
Every comment appreciated,
Highton

the truck sounds like a good deal is it fully optioned out? with the subaru if you think your not getting enuff for it and you can aford to hold it for a bit you could try selling it in the auto trader or somthing like that i know they are quite popular cars. im sure that the dealer will have no truble unloading it if they get it. post back and tell how it went if you get the truck and what u do with the car.
Well..... the Subaru is gone and now I am driving a 2004 TB LS. For $1200 they offered a 100K warranty on engine and drivetrain, I decided to purchase that even though I have heard the 4.2l Vortec is "bulletproof" was the word? First things first, it needs new tires. The factory rims are all I have at this point so I want to buy a good all-season tire that is a little aggressive looking because come spring next year I will be buying summer rims and tires, so the tires I buy now need to be decent for summer but good for winter as these rims/tires will be for winter after this summer only. Then I'm hitting the mod areas...... I can never drive something common so there will be many mods on the way. I saw a 3-piece billet grille on Ebay, both sections of the grill and the bumper also under and behind the front license plate mount..... anyone purchase this one yet? Happy with it if they did? Quality? I trust Ebay for the most part but have heard stories and remain leery.
A guy at work here has a son who manages a tire joint. Looks like I can get a pretty good deal on Cooper tires...... they offer a ST and STT which look to be decent for winter but yet I can drive them this summer too, then retire them for winter use only for next year. Do you know anything or have heard anything about these tires? I appreciate your input also!! Thanks!
Another thing I noticed is the factory size for my rims is 245/70/R16..... but a factory "optional" is listed as a 245/65/R16...... how much "larger" or "wider" can I go on these rims before I start running into trouble with spacing and fender clearance? I also don't want tires that stick out the sides of the fenderwells..... that look bad and also causes paint damage. But having them fill the fenderwell right to the edge is nice!! Any ideas on this stuff?

Amazon has a lot of billet stuff and page after page of stuff for the Chevy Trail blazer I had an idiot in a Toyota at a traffic light roll back in to me with a trailer hitch embedding it in my grill got a new grill and a billet Chevy emblem from Amazon I had to paint a black line on the emblem to make it visible ..
