Default 2005 Trailblazer Hesitating to Start

I currently own a 2005 Trailblazer 2WD V6. It has OnStar and a security system.

With any vehicle I have ever driven, when you turn the key the starter activates immediately. However, when I turn the key on my Trailblazer I just bought I have to hold it all the way for about 1-3 seconds for it to start.

I took it to AutoZone and had the battery tested and they say it checks out just fine. Could this be the precursor to problems with the starter or something wrong with the security system?

Thanks.

The ignition switches in GM vehicles generally 05 and newer are cranked by the ECM instead of the ignition. You just send the signal to crank it with the key. They di this so you can accidentally run the starter when it is already cranked and run the risk of breaking the starter.

Have the codes ran on it and see if there is anything wrong. I don't think there is, but you are really supposed to turn the key to run and wait for the dash lights to blink off and then crank it.

Could also be time be time for a tune-up. It doesn't sound like a security issue. Could just be fouled plugs or dirty injectors. Could also be a fuel pressure regulator, or pump not holding fuel pressure when the vehicle is off, and it has to quickly build the pressure while its cranking
