I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, did an oil change about 650 miles ago, drove to my in-laws house about 5 hours away and stayed 4 days. got halfway home and the engine started knocking. I pulled over and had no oil in it at all, there is no visible leaks and i never seen anything blowing out the tailpipe. the check engine light and low oil light never came on and the oil pressure gauge never faulted. I know im going to have to change the motor or re-build it because the rod is knocking way too bad. But, I am at a loss of what happened to the oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Any leaks on pavement?
Did the oil plug get tightened enough?
What about the oil filter?
You need to get under and take a look!

There's no leaks visable at all. Yes I got the plug and filter tightened.
