Default 2006 Trailblazer LS Shift ****/Won't Start

Hello everyone!

I have a 2006 Trailblazer LS with the inline 6, and I just developed a problem

I got in the truck, started it up, and started to pull out, but had to pull back in immediately. I shut the truck off, and when I attempted to start it again, it wouldn't turn over. Everything in the truck has power, it just wont engage the starter.

Furthermore, the shifter button won't depress. I can press the override button, and shift it into whatever gear I want, but when it goes back into park, the button locks up again.

Has anyone else had this issue? I don't understand how this suddenly happened...

Why did you have to pull back in?

I just noticed something...

The shifter is in the park position, but when I turn the key to the run position, the reverse lights are on...

Would that be a problem with the linkage?

Could be lots of things. I'd shut it off not on.

Kind of sounds to me like the shift linkage got out of adjustment.
