AWD VS. Snow mode?
Ok, not sure where the correct place to post this question is. I've googled the technical differences of AWD and snow mode, but can anyone explain what the practical differences are? If you would like to use a feature for snow/rain is there a reason why AWD would be better? I live in NY where we may have 2-3 snow stoems a year and the streets are cleared off relatively quickly. Trying to determine my needs. Thanks.
what is "snow mode"? I'm guessing it's some sort of traction control, which is worlds apart (and inferior to) from AWD. All it does is apply brake to prevent wheel spin.
it might help if you post what you're driving.

2024 Chevy trail blazer. It has both option to purchase.
these features can vary depending on vehicle configuration.
I've had these on jeeps and this is how they worked. chevy may be different.
snow mode would lessen throttle response so you have less chance of wheel slip when accelerating.
awd is a full time drive system that power all 4 wheels all the time. Some other drive systems only power 2 wheels until the drive wheels slip...then power is transfer to the other two wheels.
Awd is a nice option when you need it. If you don't need it....a fwd vehicle will get better mileage, have less repairs and will be cheaper to maintain. I have no issues getting around with my fwd car. Just get a good set of aggressive studded (if allowed in your state) directional snow tires. my fwd car with studded tiger paws work better than my 4wd truck with all seasons.
