Is there a way to put the power seats in a manual mode? It's my sister's car she just bought it. She is not competent enough to operate the memory function.

I'm not sure what you mean here? Are you talking about how the seat moves to the memorized position when you start the car, or use the remote to unlock it? Those memorized positions can be reset by holding the bottom on the seat if my memory serves, based on the Yukon I used to own.

Other than that, just using the controls on the side of the seat is the only way to move a power seat, using the motor(s) underneath. There is no other way to do it, short of replacing the entire seat frame with a manual one.

 

Before diving into anything too complicated, it's worth checking if it could just be a blown fuse causing the problem. If your power seats aren't budging, take a look at your car's fuse diagram to find the one that handles them. If it's blown, swap it out for a new one and see if that does the trick.

 

I want to shut off the memory. I only want the seats to move when I move the levers myself. I don't want the mirrors to move unless I move the lever. Like a car with power seats but with no memory.

 

Ah! What you need to do is use the trip computer console on the dash, using the menu buttons on the steering wheel, and look for the Vehicle Personalization section in the menus, and disable the "Easy Exit Seat" and "Seat Recall" features. Look at pages 3-61 and 3-62 in this manual I found online:

I owned a 2003 Yukon, and it had the same exact drivers seat features and settings.

 

I think those instructions don't pertain to LS model which I have .It keeps referring to the DIC . This vehicle is not equipped with DIC .

 

Ok, without the Driver Information Center, how about looking at the instrcutions on pages 1-4 to 1-6 for the seat presets and the exit positions. Could you have your sister sit in the car, adjust the seat to where she likes it, then just press and hold the 1 button to store it there, press and hold the 2 button to store it there, AND press and hold the easy exit button if it has one, so that the seat will remain in that position when she opens the door, versus sliding all the way back.

Just a thought. I don't see a way documented to disable that function without the DIC, but this would ensure the seat is always in the position she likes it, and if someone else drives and adjusts it, it will revert to her preference when she gets in.
