Default Non-power seats to power seats possible?

Hey everybody, I just bought a 91 Chevy Silverado k1500 and the previous owner put electric seats in it and never hooked them up. I now it doesn't traditionally come with power seats so what I'm wondering is if it's possible to hook these up since without power I can't adjust the seats back and forth. I've seen several tutorials online but one thing I can't seem to figure out is where I run the power to. I know I can just ground it off at the actual seat mounts. So what gauge wire would I need? Could I safely run it under the carpet somehow? Do I need a fuse? I have no clue where to start and I want to keep it relatively clean and definitely safe.
