I believe I have a wheel bearing wearing.
I have a 2006 Trailblazer LS
It has a whine noise emanating from the front wheel area ? when I turn right the noise goes away, when I turn left it gets louder. I have already bought a wheel bearing unit BUT I'm not sure which side it could be ?

I'm here for the party
ive had to replace a few wheel bearings in my chevys. and even after doing so many i can do it in 15 minutes i still cant tell you how to tell which side is bad. i know i had one that if i turned left it would get louder so i replaced the right side and it turned out to be the left. i know i would think that the weight shift would cause it to get worse but the way how it worked was the weight taken off would cause it to make noise. i ended up taken the used one that i just took of one side and swapped it to the other

why replace a part if its not bad. the other bearing could go tomorrow or last the life of the car. replace it when and if it goes bad. To me, its more important to install a good bearing vs the cheapest one available. cheap bearings last one year.

I agree with tech2.
Jack it up. Spin and wobble the wheels and find out which one is bad.
Get good bearings that will last, because driving with bad bearings puts more stress on the other components.

On my truck I turned to the left and the noise went away, when I turned to the right, the noise continued. Turned out that the right side was bad. No wobble on the wheel. Everything was tight, just a growling noise.
