Question missing charcoal canister??

So this may be a silly question but where is my charcoal canister?? I've searched and searched and googled and youtubed. I understand the 02 tb has it in front of the gas tank and fuel filter. The 05 and later have it above the spare tire tucked behind the subframe back there. Mine is in neither place. in front of the fuel filter is what appears to be an abs module/motor of some sort as there are steel lines that trace to the abs under the hood. was it common for these canisters to be deleted? I searched that too and saw that some do it, but not specifically on the TB. I had NO MIL until I replaced a leaky and rust rotted fuel filler neck and fuel cap. Since then I've been getting the dreaded p0440. I'm replacing purge valve and vent solenoid and the tank pressure sensor. I have a new charcoal canister to install....but the old is nowhere to be found! I'm so lost here. anyone?

I have an 03 TB EXT with the standard 4.2.
TIA!!
