HELP motor mounts-engine won't lift enough
2004 Trailblazer LT 4200 I6 4WD
I'm replacing motor mounts. With genuine OE motor mounts. Yes, watched all the YouTube videos. Engine won't raise enough. Both engine mounts have top and bottom nuts removed. Tried leaving nuts on passenger side motor mount to allow driver's side to "tilt" up - nope, just not high enough. MAP, throttle body removed, Intake plenum not touching firewall, radiator shroud unbolted, Even tried un-bolting the trans mount. It seems like the rear of the engine head is binding on the firewall?? Tried lifting engine at bell housing - won't get high enough.
Jacking on oil pan (with a wood block). Unbolted driver's side lower engine mount holder bracket from frame, but can't remove it totally, since coil spring prevents long bolts to be totally removed BUT they are totally un-threaded from the bracket, bracket is loose but can't slide it out of the safety "keeper integral "studs"" that go into frame. Can't get to the engine block mounted upper engine mount holder bracket. I did remove the old passenger side motor mount, but can't get new one in. I did cut off the un-threaded nub off the upper new engine mount shaft, still not enough room to fit the new (slightly taller) engine mount into place.
What have I missed???
ANY COMMENTS ARE APPRECIATED
