Im on my third Air pump on my 99 Chevy Tahoe, each one has started out with a low noise level but eventually increases to a very noticeable loud siren type noise. Installation seems simple enough, bolt on with a couple of electrical connections. Is there some trick to mounting these things. Can you bolt it on too tight or too loose?

 

my 99 malibau V6 has the code 410, broken (tiny plastic hose )replaced and new relay, the light came back on. Today after reading the posts, I disconnected the output hose, and it was clear, no evidence or water, (my input is a 4 inch hose of pump). it ran fast with good output. looks Like I have only one check valve, and that will be next. next time will do more reading before anything else. the Chilton Manual... no help at all

 

Water intrusion is what will typically kill these electric pumps. There is a Technical service bulletin (#04-06-04-015) Regarding this problem, according to the tsb, you will need a new pump and there is a hose assy. #12590627) that has you reroute the pump from future water intrusion or it is gaurenteed to fail again.

 

Any suggestions for me? I have a 2004 and 2005 both with check engine lights P0410 I replaced both air pumps and two days later I have check engine lights after clearing by disconnecting bat. and useing tester to clear. Will the check valve trigger this same code? Should I replace both check valves now?

 

If the check valve is stuck closed it will trigger the code.

If it is stuck open I'm not sure but it will then allow engine exhaust into the line to the pump. This will result in water condensing in the air lines and eventually result in pump failure.

Removal, examination and replacement of the valve is easy.

 

How do you unplug the wire on the check valve. I do not want to break the wire connector and I can not figure out how to unplug it.

 

On my connector there is a catch and lock to keep the plug from inadvertently coming loose. To remove the connector:

1) slide the gray rectangular piece away from the check valve to release the lock. The gray rectangular piece will not slide far, maybe a 1/4 inch or so. This unlocks the connector.

2) To remove the plug you will then need to push down on the tab that was surrounded by the gray rectangular piece. That tab has a catch that hooks over the plug's receptacle. Pull the plug away from the check valve while pushing down on the tab. Mine comes off easily following these steps.

Note: Looking around under my hood I see other plugs that seem identical except that they are all dark gray. So look for that rectangular piece - it should slide easily.

Hi everone. I too am having issues with the p0410 code. I've read all the threads on here, and checked my air pump. It is completely dry and outputs good airflow with the hoses disconnected. Ive checked all the relays and fuses and all check ok. I guess I've narrowed it down to the check valve on the right side of the block. Only thing is when I try and look up a part number I get 2 or 3 different numbers, and cant find the part number on the check valve itself. Here is a picture of it I took with my Blackberry Playbook, and a link to one. Am I safe in ordering this one, or how can I find the exact part number for replacement? Its on a 2003 Trailblazer LT with the 4.2l Vortec V6. Thank you for any help you can provide.

The part shown on the link appears to be the same part as on my 2005 TB but I can't tell if it is the same as the one you photographed. Perhaps you could pull off the air filter hose and get a better pic of your check valve. You could also pull the complete check valve. There are only two bolts that hold it on. Try not to damage the gasket when removing the old valve.
