Default Slow gas fill

Every time I fill the gas tank, I can only fill it normally for a gallon. After that, I have to hold the gas nozzle half way so it doesn't shut off. Then at the end after I finish filling, there would be a lot of gurgling noise going on. There is nothing blocking the tank vent.

Something is causing this and its usually a ventilation issue, something I am very familiar, with as all petroleum fuel must vent to somewhere. Does it do this at all gas stations?

Yes, it does this at all gas stations. It has been a thing since this summer.

We checked it a while ago. Tried widening the vent opening on top of fill neck. There is a P0455 code.

it doesn't vent at the filler neck....the tank vents out the top of the tank in this order... out to the evap cannister...out the vent valve...out the vent filter...this is what you must check. common faults are stuck vent valves, clogged cannisters.

remove the tank vent hose at the cannister....remove the fuel cap...blow on the hose back to the tank...air should pass freely. blow into the cannister...if its restricted...remove the vent valve and repeat...if its still restricted...replace teh cannister....if its clear blow thru the vent valve...it is normally open when not powered...if its restricted replace it and the vent filter.

this vent line must allow air out when refueling...air in when the fuel pump is running and when the purge valve is open.

I did replace the vapor canister a while ago for a previous code. I'd have to look into it some more when I get the time.

We messed around with it. I mistakened the vent valve as the vapor canister. The vapor canister was never replaced. The small hose that connects to the canister is blocked. Can't tell if it is capped or not. Can't tell where it is going. I did fill the tank after messing with it and I get to 3 gallons before it backs up.
