Thinking of getting an 04 Trailblazer
I love the look of these trucks. Is there a lot of common major problems?
I'm going to look at an 04 today with 161,000km on it. I'm hoping this truck will last to at least 250,000km+
Also is there any way to buy an extended warranty through GM for the 04 models or is it too late?

hey.. funny thing about your post...
161,000 KM= 100,040 miles.
250,000 km=155,342 miles.
I have an 03.... 1 week ago I hit 150,000 miles.
today 150,225 miles.
My TB is doing great. the engine is strong. I had an oil analysis done at 146K and it was excellent. I have always done 10,500 to 11,500 miles oil changes on this vehicle- using the Oil life monitor- using regular oil. (I6 takes 7 quarts of oil).
I think if something breaks down- it will be the transmission.
at 100K I changed shocks, brake fluid, diff fluid, spark plugs.
I still have the factory rear brake pads... (do all the work myself).
The problems Ive had with the vehicle...
I replaced the thermostat, water pump, fan clutch.
And had some work done on the transmission (3rd gear).
Some preventive maintenance Ive done myself is changing the O2 sensor, dexcool flush, upper/lower rad hoses.... nothing was wrong--- just preventive maintenance.

My mother has a 04 Trailblazer with the 4.2. It was an auction vehicle. When it was bought it had 72000 miles on it, needed an alignment, ball joints, tires, O2 sensor and ABS sensor, water pump, Tranny filter needed to be replaced too. Other than that its a sweet ride, and the power that 4.2 has is great. Real good pep. Also, when it comes time for Plugs, use NGK Iridium plugs.
As for a warranty, I think it has to be lower than 100k miles in order for GM to sell the warranty.

I have a 02 trailblazer with around 95K miles on it, and its still running and going strong. No major problems at all, just a few normal things like brakes, fuses etc that ive had to replace. I think I have read that some of them can have transmission problems, guess ill find out when I get more miles on her. Are you hand and work on your own vehicles?
