Trailblazer 4x4 engine removal
I am not a technician, but I have taken out my whole drive train and engine before. I didn't want to take my a/c lines out. So if your like me I'll guide you the way I did.
1. Remove the transmission cross member and mount
2. Remove front drive shaft, the rear drive shaft, and the transfer case ( try to keep the drives shaft in so the gear oil doesn't leak out)
3. Take out the starter
4. Take out the three bolts on the flywheel attaching the torque converter
5. Remove transmission ( when reinstalling transmission make sure torque converter is in all the way and lined up in the transmission correctly other wise you will finding yourself replacing a transmission pump )
6. Remove both front CV joints.
7. Remove the radiator fan by not taking the belt off yet. Their is a special way of doing it. Loosen where the fan connects to the pully, I think it's size is 1" wrench. Then go a head and loosen all the rest of the nuts and bolts in that area. Now remove your belt. The fan, fan clutch should remove together along with the radiator shroud.
8. Remove the radiator
9. Remove the exhaust manifold
10. Extra removing room remove the all the intake items. Air filter box, mass air flow sensor with tube, intake box, throttle body, and intake manifold. ( to take out the manifold you well need to remove the alternator ) Last the coils and valve cover.
11. Remove all the wiring mounted to the drivers side of the block.
12. Unmount the power steering get pump.
13. Double check to make sure all the wiring has been removed
14. Remove the top motor mount nuts
15. Your engine is ready for extraction
