I am married with 3 kids ages 3,4 & 8 years old. We are trading our minivan for an suv. We are thinking about getting a 2002 - 2005 Trailblazer EXT and I am wondering how it will work out for our family. We love camping and the outdoors and plan to get a small pop-up camper in the future.

-Are there any problems to look for while shopping for one that are inherient to the Trailblazer EXT?

My wife and I have a 2005 Trailblazer LS EXT and other than a few quirks we love it. First off I will start with the 4WD. The axle disconnect is a POS and a common problem from what I have read and found out on my own. Dont let that be your deciding factor because with some general maintainence it will last a long time. 2nd, You mentioned you love camping....if you do decide to get one, try to find one with the "G80" RPO. That is the locking rear diff option, commonly referred to as a Gov Lock. You will find a white sticker in the glovebox with a bunch of 3 number/letter codes so look it over and maybe take a picture of it and go home and look up the codes and see what it has for options. Again, care and common sence will go along way with the G80 locker. 3rd, Make sure there are no leaks present because my wifes TB is leaking trans fluid out of the input shaft seal and I am going to have to drop the tranny this spring to replace the seal.
