2023 Traverse Headlights are not adjustable… yet too high from factory
I need some guidance on how others have handled this one. I love the traverse except I now try and avoid driving at night. My “factory set” headlights are too high. This has been made very clear to me by the many many cars that lovingly flash their brights at me upon passing or turn on their high beams and tailgate me going 70mph after I cruise past them…
Before you write me off, yes they are LEDs. So were my last car’s. It isn’t a matter of brightness, it’s just the angle is high. The top of the light field is about rear view mirror level on low beams. High beams light up bird nests and low flying aircraft.
Also, I know how to adjust normal headlights. I would be able to do so in any year Traverse before 2023 as they were all adjustable. The 23 however, “needs no adjustment as it comes factory set.” The manual says to bring it in to the dealer if there is an issue.
Well, maybe they are too new but the dealer service center was equally stumped. I was told it’s probably just the light pattern from the LEDs and people just aren’t used to them yet. I might accept that but the reason I need a vehicle with three rows is I gotta tow my kids around w me sometimes. Having already had 2 incidents of insane people tailgating me with their high beams on, I have to find a better solution.
Maybe I should get some giant rims for my back axle or deflate the front tires…

Did your vehicle come with LEDs?
If not, the reflector in some headlamps is not meant to use LEDs and there is no controlling the beam put out, which produces a driving hazard for oncoming drivers.
Just because they sell them , does not make them legal.

Yes they came w LEDs. The reflector is set correctly for the bulbs. Also the top limit of the light field is equal on both sides so it just seems intentionally mounted to aim about a foot higher (at 10yd distance) than it ought to. I’m gonna play with the mounting bolts, add washers, bend metal 😖, and add padding to change the angles on my brand new car.
painful
Still hoping for a better alternative. Need tips on adjusting headlights that are labeled… not adjustable.

Problem solved, found adjusting screw under hood front corner holes go down to screws. You will need some kind of long Phillips screwdriver. I found adjusting top of beam to 25 inches ten feet in front of vehicle is pretty close. Dealer had them at 30 inches, why they don’t show you this in owners manual is beyond me.
