Can't get phasers out on 2011 Traverse
Looking for someone to tell me a hint. I need to replace the phasers on my Traverse. I have the front bumper, core support and accessories removed as well as the intake and valve covers. I have an engine that the timing set was already replaced and wanted to see about getting away with R&R without taking off the timing cover as well.
In my research, I found a tool #ST 161. The tool goes between the timing gears and locks the chain against the tensioner. I have read the walk through, and reset the tool dozens of times, and took the leap into getting the phasers removed. Unfortunately, both the intake and exhaust gears won't clear the timing cover.
I have tried rotating the gears, moving the cams, etc and can't see how to get them out! This is for the forward bank of cylinders. The only way to continue that I see would be to Unfortunately unbolt the cams caps to allow the proper clearance by moving the camshafts. Is there anyone else that can offer me help?
