Traverse heating
this is my 1st winter with my traverse and the engine light came on
no big deal
they said there were 4 codes 1 of which had to do with the thermostat.
they cleared the codes light went out all is well..
not really... the engine gets started to pre heat prior to going to work etc.
most days it has been around -25 celcius
the engine warms up enough to see it on the gage..
so heres the deal
15mins of idling warm up
15mins of driving
-25 c outside
still hasn't reached full normal operating temp approx. 100degrees
it is obvious from the temp inside the vehicle as well it is just not putting the heat out like it should.
no engine light but it seems once it hits an idling temperature lets say of 45degrees
it stays there until you drive then it goes up a bit and then you stop
well you can idle for a bit and it doesn't move until you drive again.
it doesn't come close to the heat response of my previous vehicle.
and my 2007 sierra heats up way better as well.
sticky thermostat????
computer control issue????
no idea please help..
sadly I would like an opinion prior to bringing it in for warranty for
something that to the garage will not really be broken
because the garage doesn't usually have a staff of troubleshooters
thanks kev.

if you hve a thermosta thats stuck open-
then you would see a temp drop when you started moving- and getting airflow thru the radioator--- (unless the radiator has snow/ice built up on it)...
But if you see this up down from the gauge- then yes- stuck open...
if you have an OBDII scanner-- then you can see the engine temp via the scanner.
