So my mechanic just finished pouring in rebuilt engine but can get van to start. He thinks the ECU needs to be reprogrammed. Any info to corroborate this? TIA

 

Sounds like horse-manure to me. If the engine was properly rebuilt and installed, the ECU shouldn't need reprogramming. How much do you trust this mechanic? Might want to use Yelp and see if he is on there.

I found a great auto shop in my town using Yelp for things I cannot repair,due to time and loss of work, and that really needs a lift/hoist to use and I get 10 percent off with my AAA card too. Gave em' a great rating too, of course.
