Default 2006 Uplander Rear DVD unhooked by dealer

I bought my 2006 Uplander new from my local dealer. One of many problems that I had with it was that the rear DVD player screen would not turn off and would cause the battery to go dead. The service department said that it was due to some faulty component so they ordered a placement while under warranty. In the meantime, the service dept "unhooked" the DVD until the part arrived . Unfortunately, I was never able to return my vehicle to complete the service before the dealership was closed as a result of the auto bailout. A nearby dealership claims to have no service records for my vehicle (even though it went in for warranty service work no less than 6 times). With my vehicle no longer under warranty, I'm on the hook. It's my fault for procrastinating, I know.

Well, next week, I'm taking my 4 kids to Disney World, an 8 hour drive. My thinking is that since the DVD was working fine until the serviceman unhooked it, I should be able to temporarily hook it back up for the drive there and back. Simple..but the thing is, I don't know exactly what he did to disable it. Here are the facts:

1) The in-dash radio works OK fine.
2) The rear entertainment system display is off...no lights or text. Climate control not working. Screen is black, except...
3) There is some power going to the rear unit, because if I insert a DVD it will "pull" the disk in. Still no lights on the display. I can also eject the disk and when I do, the screen will flash"NO DISK" for a split second. No other buttons have any effect.
4) Fuse #4 in the instrument fuse panel is good.
5) I removed the rear unit from the headliner rail system check to see if wiring harness was connected. It was.
6) Whatever the service dept unhooked, it also caused my remote starter to stop working.

Any ideas?
