Default 2008 Uplander towing limit ?

How much can I safely tow without a trans cooler installed ?
I have a 3.9 V6 and I plan on towing a 5' x 8' box trailer (900 lbs. empty) from northeast Ohio, across PA to New Jersey next week. I am estimating our payload to be around our 1000 - 1200 lbs. max.

Sorry for the late response but you should be fine. The Max trailer weight is 3,500 Lbs.

does anyone know the catch points for the 3500lb rating? can this be increased?
i have a 3.9L, tranny cooler, and 6 lugs... but i have the same rated 3500lb tow capacity as a 3.5L without a tranny cooler and 5lugs.... my hitch says 5,000lb max and i assume that reese took into account the fasteners they provided and the preexisting weldnuts they instructed to use in the directions...
so i wonder how much closer the 3.9L with tranny coole, and 6 lugs could get to 5,000lb than the 3.5L without a cooler and 5 lugs....

I have a 2008 with a 3.9 L. I have added a transmission cooler and air shocks. I pull a 3500 LB camper and it really struggles on the big hills here in SW Missouri. I would be very hesitant to try to pull more than 3500 Lbs,

good to know.
is your camper 3500lbs loaded or unloaded?
do the brakes seem like they are enough?
my brakes feel a bit lacking with 650lb in the vans cargo area.. my rotors are thin and i dont know what kind of pads are on it from the prior owner

The trailer is probably closer to 3600 Lbs. Loaded. I put very little in it to save on weight. We buy groceries and ice etc, close to where we camp. The trailer has electric brakes and does well. As a note on the brakes before we got the camper, the brakes worked well but I did notice that the rear brake pads wore out before the front. I bought the 2008 Uplander when it was new and have had to change the pads on the back every 50,000 miles. I suspect I will need to change them a little sooner now that we pull the camper.
