Default 976000 and Service Vehicle Soon

I just returned from the auto hobby shop on Ft. Belvoir. I was going to tune-up the Uplander because of the 'Service Vehicle Soon' light. But when we hooked it up to the machine there was no code for it. I checked gas cap already. I changed the oil last week as instructed by 'the light'. I know I have to change the plugs because they are original. However what does SVS mean? Is it code for go to the dealer so they can make money?
How long does it take to change the plugs?
Where is the Oxygen sensor located?
Please help this Sailor.
