Welcome to the forum. P0445 is an EVAP purge control circuit malfunction. If there's a slight leak at the EVAP purge valve as a result, it can cause the "CHECK GAS CAP" warning as a secondary effect.

You're quite welcome. The EVAP purge valve is in the engine compartment. Mind, you either have one problem or two problems. It's your money but I hope you aren't going to throw parts at it.

Thanks I will try to find it tomorrow, I looked once but I guess not hard enough I am going to check out the condition of the valve and lines and then decided weather to change parts or take it in to have it fixed

Well I changed the purge valve and all the lines I can't find anything wrong but the light is still on, but the check gas cap light only comes on every few starts. Also I am not sure if this is related or not every once and a while it does not like to start you turn the key but it doesn't want to fire, shut it off and back on it fights a bit but it starts, any ideas???

Thanks

That's what I was afraid of. If the purge valve is new and you're still getting P0445 (are you?), then the fault is probably electrical, either in the wiring or ECM itself. In addition, it must be intermittently failing the EVAP leak test (actually leaking or FTP sensor fault?). As luck would have it, it's really not feasible to work on EVAP problems without a smoke machine and professional level scan tool. It looks like you'll have to take it in for service.

What year, model and mileage is your vehicle? Are you the original owner?
