I have an 05 uplander with 45000+ miles and my trans output shaft housing has just grenaded. There are no signs of impact and the shaft seems to be just fine. It looks like it just cracked and fell apart. the odd thing about it is tonight when I was driving through the Christmas lights I was making a creeping left turn (curve) and the steering wheel was pulling very hard to the right. That went away quickly ( I thought the tire was in a rut or something) then later I noticed the trans oil trail on the ground. Got home and found the housing broke apart. The case looks like crap (cracks and casting slag). Anyone heard anything about this? Of course, the warranty just expired. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I have seen the final drive pin come out and brake the case.
