We have a 2008 chevy uplander 3,9L

Drove out of our complex and all of a sudden the car starting revving, wouldnt move in drive ,or 3rd gear but does move in 1st and 2nd.

Fluid level is good, but my mechanic son in law tells me that the transmission fluid smells a little funny, also been told that the transmission may have to be rebuilt.

 

Hello I am new to the forum. I have the same type of problem. 2005 uplander ls with less than 50000 miles that moves in 1st and 2nd gear but will not go beyond that. Wondering what could be the problem.
