*Tink*Tink*Tink*. . . . .
Hello everyone,
I just recently purchased a '99 Venture and when I drive silently I can hear a tinking sound that increases in
sound and speed as I press the gas. It's definately from the motor. Maybe somekind of ticking leak? I'm sorry,
I don't know too much about cars.
Also My temp guage for the engine on left dash is registering low Any suggestions?
forgot to mention oil was changed on the 8th at walt mart. Mileage is 116,000.

Lifter tick. You can see if synthetic oil helps reduce it or lucas oil stabilizer. Eventually it will have to be fixed.

damn. been doing alot of reading, finding out that Ventures are Notorious for gasket problems.
what is the function of a gasket?
also, what are the early signs of gasket failure? I think this may be what wrong with my venture.
When first cranked and run through the gears smoke comes out. . . . not bad. Can't really tell if it is cause it's cold or what.

Gaskets keep fluids or gases separate. It crushes so any uneven surfaces are sealed. Signs of a bad gasket are: water in the oil (looks milky), Suit building up around the exhaust, losing antirfreeze.
