Question '02 Chevy Venture 4T65-E Transmission Rebuild?

ChevyForums-Venture,

My wife and I have an '02 Chevy Venture van with 219xxx miles on it. I had the transmission rebuilt in December '09; not long after we moved back to Louisiana from NC, something in the 4T65-E AWD transmission broke loose and punched a hole in the transmission case, leaving me stranded from home.

The van has sat up for almost a year now; I was going to sell it for junk, but they are only offering $400! It'll cost us $3900+tax for a new transmission and to rebuild ~$2500+. Other than the A/C needing a new compressor and the entire vehicle a good cleaning, it is good and I'd like to make it last a few more years since it's paid for, even if only for driving a few hours here and there.

All that said, my question is this - is it possible for me to rebuild my existing transmission and get it working with the transfer case again?

I'd just get a tarnny from a boneyard and do a re and re on it. While the donor is still out, give it some tlc (gaskets, seals etc, maybe replace the pressure solenoid) change the filter and fluid, and you should be good to go. A punctured casing IMHO is generally a sign of a catastrophic failure -not repairable.
