ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Connector Harness - where to actually connect ?
Hi Forum !
As I am new to this community, first of all a brief introduction on myself: I am based in Germany and run two older Chevys, a 99 Blazer and a 04 Venture AWD (which is marketed as īTrans Sportī in Europe).
So, I am currently messing around with a Wheel Speed Sensor error on my Venture. Itīs the common issue with ABS & Traction lamps illuminated, based on ODB error codes C1232 (Left front wheel speed sensor circuit open/shorted) and C1221 (Left front wheel speed sensor input signal equals zero). The wheel hub and its sensor seems to be OK (resistance and voltage reads out fine), but I found a broked wire (one of the two) in the cable that leads up to ABS unit. Happy about this discovery of the potential cause of defect, I tried to solder the break, which failed ... so I am about to order a new " ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Connector Harness" (GM part #10340314, e.g. from brand WVE 1P2036 or HOLSTEIN 2ABS0485, as the image below) and cross fingers that it will solve the problem.
My question now is: Where do I have to actuall connect the wires or that replacement harness to ???
The one end of the harness plugs into the sensor end socket (easy), while the other end is just the two wires. I tried to follow the old cable, it seems to merge into a bigger harness, that finally reached the ABS unit. Do I have to cut the old wires at the very end; or where ? It is impossible to reach that area from above, not to mention from below - the engine compartment is cramped. Do I have to remove the wheel and dismantel the wheel house ?
Maybe someone of you already done that repair and can give me tips how to actually replace the harness.
THANK YOU !
Cheers, Olli
How and where to actually connect the two wires, when replacing the harness ?
