Hello all, I had to do at intake gasket replacement on my 2000 Chevy venture. I am at the reassembly stage and got to the point where I have to reinstall the belt tensioner and found it surprisingly harder than the rest of the work. I thought it would be easy so didn't think of it when I removed it, didn't take picture nor gave it much thought. Anyway, the problem is that when I am reinstalling the tensioner after I have fully torqued the tensioner bolt, I found that the tensioner is still not flushed against the alternator bracket that is behind it. I lined up the pin (PIN1) on the tensioner with the dimple (HOLE1) on the alt. bracket behind it, but still after fully torquing the bolt of the tensioner, the tensioner is still loose and I can shake it and rotate it from side to side. There is apparently a small gap between the tensioner and the bracket behind it. I am thinking of maybe putting a spacing washer behind the bolt to deal with the gap issue.
Is there something I am missing when I aligned the tensioner with the alt. bracket?

Ran into the exact same today. I KNOW this thread is ancient, but Im wondering how you dealt with it, lools like the bolt passes through the alternator bracket to the block whic means i may need to pull the motor to helicoil it, whivh as well as yhis runs and low mileage its NOT something im willing to do. Any other alternative?
