Question Give me some shortcuts or pointers to do this by myself, please..

My 04 venture blew a hose today. It smelled of radiator but when i checked the engine, there was no radiator fluid. They was fluid spray along the back half of the engine bay. Fluid was dripping from the far side of the trans but was not colored from what i could tell. Further inspection down the road at my 2nd job showed the a hose had become broken off of an assembly in the back of the engine bay. Figured out it is the Engine Heater Hose Assembly that broke, one of the hose adapters had snapped off still inside the hose and i was spraying fluid all over the backside of my motor. I'm looking for any help to do this by myself. i have 3 kids and can't afford to give them a christmas, let alone pay to have my car fixed. I could really use the pointers..

Check down a few threads to "losing cooling water" for some photos on the hoses, it might be helpful.
