Harmonic Bal BOLT
In the process of replacing the crank sensor you have to remove the harmonic balancer which is pretty straight forward, BUT has anyone had the problem of the crank bolt galling yes that is what happened to me, I did not think I was going to get it back and by some stroke of luck I got it to back out. Now I am stuck with a horrible crank hole, I have to some how clean out the first part of the crank threads and I do have good threads further in enough to get a decent purchase on the threads suggestions?
You're saying that the threads were pulled out with the bolt? How deep? If you can get a thread chaser in there and find out that most of the threads are still intact, blue locktite the bolt back in there and be done with it. If too many threads are gone, you may have to resort to drilling, tapping and using a heli-coil insert. That bolt is merely holding on the balancer, it isn't fighting against pressures like a cylinder head bolt would be.
