Need expertise or your opinions on 07 Hoe Resonator...
Recently found myself in a conversation amongst some associates and a few were telling me to get rid of my resonator.
My understanding is it's merely there to reduce noise...no? Now I find myself being told that the resonator is highly restrictive and removing it will increase flow and horsepower. I am also thinking noise as well.
Anyway, I would like to hear from you guys, as I trust you all here better than my peeps, of who most are in Fords so that's a bad start with me already...
By the way, I am not looking to get an exhaust like a few here but if it would be worth while to minus out the resonator; than yeah I'll ged er' done.
Can you guys share with me your thoughts and expertise...
Thanks in advance

I seriously doubt that there would be any measurable increase in hp or mpg.
SLP does make a "resonator" replacement w/ a dual polished tip. I think the main reason for it is to dampen the sound when the engine is in the V4 mode since the GMT800 don't have one. Don't know if there's a recording available but you might check w/ SLP or youtube.

I believe the resonator is there to dampen the overall sound. The wire mesh looking object in front of the muffler is there to take care of the v4 vs v8 mode or so I've been told.

The st-st mesh is merely protection for the bellows flex joint that allows for the slight engine rotation and prevents stressing the rest of the exhaust system.

The Magnaflow muffler was installed before the resonator was removed. From that stand point, the exhaust was much louder (not obnoxious though) but that is what I wanted. Nice startup growl and smooth/mellow on part throttle, but screams at WOT .
There is drone at ~2,500 to 3,000 rpm with just the Magnaflow, but with the resonator removed it is louder. IMO I like it, but it might be suit others. Yes, you can notice the switch from V4 to V8 and visa versa. It seems like no matter which aftermarket muffler you chose, you can still hear the change in V modes. Overall I am satisfied with this setup.
For those concerned with drone, IMO removed the resonator and keep the stock muffler. Another way to go is to change to a Corsa muffler - no drone.
