Chevy to Debut Groundbreaking 4-D Vehicle-Testing Experience in Detroit
Auto show guests will experience virtual 360-degree ride over gravel roads and through extreme-temperature labs and rock climbs.
The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 underwent rigorous vehicle testing before the first truck was delivered. And the all-new 2019 Chevy Silverado will accumulate 7 million miles of testing and validation before Chevy delivers the first truck to dealerships. Vehicles like the Colorado ZR2 and Silverado are tested in chambers capable of simulating extreme environmental conditions, including temperatures from -40 degrees to 130 degrees Fahrenheit, altitudes from -700 to 12,500 feet., humidity from 10 to 90 percent and wind speeds from 0 to 100 mph. And now, Chevy truck enthusiasts are getting the opportunity to see firsthand just how all of this fascinating technology works.
For the first time, Chevrolet will offer auto show attendees a behind-the-scenes look at vehicle testing through a 4-D virtual reality experience at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, which opens to the public on Jan. 20.
“Chevrolet is committed to delivering high-quality, durable vehicles able to withstand some of the harshest weather conditions and most unique driving situations people encounter today,” said Alan Batey, president of GM North America and head of Global Chevrolet. “With this new Chevrolet Virtual Dynamics Lab experience, we are offering consumers the opportunity to be immersed in our rigorous testing processes and to better understand the capability built into our lineup of vehicles.”
