Oh Hail No! Brand New Camaros Pelted by Giant Ice Balls

By -

It took only minutes for these massive balls of hail to do some serious damage to a pair of Camaros!

Mother Nature is an evil, unforgiving mistress. Sure, she gives us sunshine and rainbows and all of those great things. But she also taketh away by pelting us with snow, wind, tornados, and hurricanes. And, of course, those hellish giant ice balls known as hail. For car enthusiasts, there’s nothing worse than hail storms. They’re unpredictable, unforgiving, and carry the potential to do thousands of dollars in damage in mere minutes. Heck, just take a look at what it did to these poor Camaros.

Much of the southern U.S. was riddled with severe weather this past week, and Alabama bore the brunt of it. We often see the end result of the damage hail can cause, but this security footage from Mitch Smith Chevrolet in Cullman, Alabama, shows what it can do in high-def live action. And that’s bash the crap out of some brand new Camaros, leaving their bodywork riddled with dents and glass smashed to bits.

This isn’t your average, pea-sized hail, either. This stuff is so huge that it makes some rather dramatic “splats” when it hits the pavement. The onslaught only lasted around 20 minutes, but the dealership reports that it was enough to damage nearly 400 vehicles. Including what looks to be one very long row of Camaros up front.

Now, whether or not Mitch Smith decides to offer some kind of special promotion on these damaged Camaros remains to be seen. If we’re lucky, they’ll do a buy one get one free deal like we saw at a Colorado-based dealership last fall. If not, let this serve as an important reminder of why you don’t want to mess with Mother Nature. When bad storms are coming, park your precious ride under cover!
