See the USA in Your Chevrolet: The Spirit of ’76 Edition
For Memorial Day, we salute the rare and patriotic Chevy special edition Spirit of ’76 pickup that is a true American beauty.
In 1976 Chevrolet celebrated America’s Bicentennial with a special edition K10 pickup aptly named “The Spirit of ’76.” Finding one today is rare find, as only 500 were produced. The full name of this trim is the Spirit of ’76 Chevrolet Scottsdale Bonanza. This particular K10 is made even more rare due to the fact that most of the Spirit of ’76 trucks that came off the line were white, but a small number came in this red, white, and blue package for a little extra show of patriotic pride.
We found this Spirit of ’76 pickup on Classic Vehicles List and thought it was a perfect truck to spotlight for Memorial Day. The Bonanza package includes a 1970s period correct gauge package, clock, A/C, and radio. It also includes a special chrome grille, an automatic transmission, power steering.
The interior boasts more red, white, and blue stitched seating, and very cool Spirit of ’76 badging on the drivers side door. Of course, being a Chevrolet K10, it is durable and capable. The owner did replace the original engine with a 350, producing 250 hp.
It’s a cool truck that serves up a subtle but sweet slice of American pie. For more information, check it out on Classic Vehicles.
