’56 Chevy Restomod: Big as a Truck and Equally as Badass
Every truck guy needs a matching vintage car — like this drop-dead gorgeous 1956 Chevy Bel Air.
Around these parts, we tend to focus on Chevy trucks. But we also appreciate a cool vintage car when we see one, especially when it’s as iconic as the 1956 Chevy Bel Air. Plus, this classic piece of iron is just about as big as a new Colorado, right? Not to mention it sports the kind of classy appeal that anyone, regardless of brand affiliation, has to appreciate.
So when we ran across this stunning silver restomod over at Classic Industries, we knew we had to share this awesome find with you, loyal readers. The beautiful Bel Air belongs to Greg Irvine of Chino Hills, California. Irvine’s goal was to build something that retained most of the Chevy’s vintage appeal, but also to add some modern driving and comfort characteristics.
That’s what led him down the restomod route. On the surface, his Bel Air retains most of its factory appearance. Because why would you want to mess with perfection? But underneath that gorgeous silver and white exterior lies a ton of modern parts. It all starts with a 430 hp 6.2 liter LS3 V8, which offers up power, efficiency, and reliability. And it’s backed up by a 4L70E 4-speed automatic for easy cruising.
Other than the exhaust note, your only clue to what lies under the hood comes from the lowered stance and Budnik billet wheels. Throw a set of disc brakes on there to slow things down safely, and you’ve got the makes of one nice classic Chevy. Greg built a car that anyone would love to own and drive, no matter what your preference. And that’s quite a feat, even for the perfect Chevy.
