Not a Lemon: Mellow, Yellow ’52 Chevy Truck Was Rebuilt in a Week

Chevy‘Week to Wicked’ project celebrates Speedway Motors’ 65th anniversary.

Earlier this year, the guys over at Classic Trucks completed their inaugural “Week to Wicked” project. As the name suggests, the guys were given just about a week to fully rebuild a 1972 C10. After fans watched the build live on Facebook, Classic Trucks finished their beautiful truck just in time for a Friday burnout. Just recently, the guys were given a second “Week to Wicked” challenge, and they documented the whole thing, which was recently profiled by Hot Rod Network.

This time, the Classic Trucks crew was asked by Speedway Motors to rebuild a 1952 Chevy truck to celebrate Speedway’s 65th Anniversary. The rules are simple: rebuild the truck in five days and make sure its ready for the Friday burnout. Of course, they guys had a blast completing the project, but it wasn’t without its own challenges. As they point out, this is the week that Mother Nature decided to end California’s drought. Weather notwithstanding, they powered on and began the project.

Each day, the crew was given a specific task to be completed. Day 1 consisted on bolting together the chassis. Over the next few days, the guys dropped in the new engine, as well as the laundry list of components you can read on their site. Finally, on the last day, after they rushed to finish the wiring and other interior-related duties, the crew bled the brakes, added fluids, and did all the other last-minute checks before the main event – the Friday burnout.

The truck was finished well before the deadline, and the guys are awaiting their next “Week to Wicked” challenge.
