1966 Chevy C-60 Dubbed ‘EVELHLR’ Is One Seriously Cool Custom Car Hauler

Inspired by the greatest stunt person that ever lived, this 1966 Chevy C-60 car hauler somehow didn’t win ‘World’s Most Beautiful Truck’ honors.

Most people – whether they be auto/motorcycle enthusiasts or not – are likely at least familiar with the name Evel Knievel, largely because, well, he’s the most famous stunt person to ever exist. Though he passed away back in 2007, Knievel became a legend after performing more than 75 motorcycle stunts over a number of years, many of them feats that people had never attempted before – or, at least, actually pulled off. Today, Knievel continues to inspire many aspiring stunt performers, as well as custom truck builds such as this 1966 Chevy C-60.

We spotted this 1966 Chevy C-60 at the 2024 Grand National Truck Show, which attracted hundreds of amazing trucks, vans, and SUVs to SoCal recently in just its second year of existence. Among that sea of incredible haulers, this one – built by the folks at Lakeside Customs – was among the very best and certainly the most unique, for a number of reasons. Right off the bat, it’s clear that its Evel Knievel inspiration is part of that, given its patriotic paint job, stars, and of course, its nickname – “EVELHLR.”

Though it didn’t win World’s Most Beautiful Truck at this year’s Grand National Truck Show, this vintage Chevy certainly deserved to be in the mix, given its high level of detail and craftsmanship. For starters, lighting elements at the front and rear have been reshaped into stars, with loads of red accents added to the stunning blue paint. The bumper and wheels add a nice bronze contrast to that mix, with the rollers – and LED headlights – being of the more modern variety. Then, out back, we find a custom car hauler setup perfect for tooling around with other vehicles – such as, perhaps, some stunt motorcycles?

Everywhere one looks, they’ll find loads of cool custom details, including the side exhaust that exits just in front of the rear wheels, bronze truck mirrors, a finely painted flat bed (we certainly wouldn’t want to scratch that up), and a large touchscreen paired with diamond-stitched seats inside the cabin. Overall, the quality of this 1966 Chevy C-10 build is virtually unmatched – which just goes to show you how incredibly competitive this year’s World’s Most Beautiful Truck competition really was.
