1994 Chevy Blazer

Finding a solid Chevy S-10 Blazer isn’t easy these days, but this one’s right here in the Chevrolet Forum Marketplace.

Chevy’s Blazer has seemingly transformed more over the years than those giant robots from the famous movies. It was once a full-size SUV with a removable roof. Then, it turned into a small and practical two or four-door with a fixed roof. Then, it was a full-size again. And after disappearing for a while, the Blazer recently reemerged once again, this time as somewhat of a Camaro crossover. Everyone, of course, has their favorite. But we have a bit of a soft spot for the S-10 based compact from 1982-1994

Sure, the curvy 1995-2005 mid-sizer is cool, too. But for folks that grew up in the ’80s and ’90s, you just can’t beat the simple, square shape of the early S-10 Blazer. For the longest time, you couldn’t drive anywhere without passing several of them. But today, finding a solid early example isn’t exactly easy. People drove the heck out of these things, racking up crazy mileage until they simply didn’t run anymore. But we did find what appears to be a very nice example up for grabs in the Chevrolet Forum Marketplace.

From what we can tell, this last-year S-10 Blazer is in pretty solid shape with no visible rot. And truthfully, that’s the one thing that would give us pause on a project like this. Otherwise, the body looks solid with nothing more than surface rust and faded paint. Somebody obviously took care of this ‘ute, and it also looks like they didn’t fiddle with trying to modify anything. Which is a good sign, of course.

This particular Blazer is also equipped with the best drivetrain combo of the bunch. Everybody loves the 4.3-liter V6 under the hood, which is essentially a 350 with two cylinders chopped off. And it’s backed up by the equally good 4L60E automatic transmission, an excellent cog box as well. This engine/transmission combo is cheap and easy to maintain, and this one’s apparently in good running shape already.

The seller does note that this Blazer needs cosmetic and exhaust work, but that’s no big deal. We’d throw some new pipes under there and give this thing a decent paint job, then drive it and enjoy it. And if that sounds like your cup of tea, head over here and contact the seller to see if you can work out a deal!
