1998 Chevy K1500 Z71 Stepside Time Capsule for Sale
This K1500 Z71 has only 52K original miles on its Vortec 5.7L V8 and it looks factory fresh.
PC Classic Cars has a classic 1998 Chevrolet K1500 Z71 Stepside for sale that caught our attention. Often you can find 1998 K1500 trucks for sale for less than $10,000. This truck has an asking price of $32,500. At first glance that might seem like a rip off. But this is no ordinary 1998 K1500. This is a Z71 Stepside and it has only 52,508 actual miles on it. The truck looks almost brand new thanks to the gleaming original Dark Copper Metallic paint. And it is equipped with the Vortec 5.7L V8 hooked up to the 4L60E 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission. The truck also comes with a clean Carfax report. The folks at PC Classic Cars attached a ‘Does it work’ document to the sales listing. According to that document all systems work as expected. Hmmm, this is starting to sound like a deal.
The truck even comes with the original window sticker. That sticker shows the truck had an original MSRP of $27,066. That is roughly $53,000 in 2025 money. So, after nearly 30 years this truck has retained more than half of its value assuming the market is willing to pay full asking price. What do you think, is this truck worth it? Let’s look at a few more details.
1998 Chevy K1500 Z71 Stepside Details
The truck listed for sale has the standard “52D” Tan interior, but the seats have been replaced with new Katzkin seat covers. The 16-inch wheels are wrapped in BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA 285/75R16 tires. The Z71 package includes skid plates and Bilstein shocks. Other options include a locking rear differential, a split bench front seat, AM/FM stereo with cassette and CD player.
Flaws
The seller appears to be very transparent with any flaws on the truck. They posted individual photos of every flaw on the truck. This includes small dash cracks, scrapes, scratches and dings in the paint. Overall, nothing seems to be too major for a truck that was built while Bill Clintion was still President of the United States. The truck appears to be exceptionally clean inside, outside and even underneath. In fact, this truck is so nice that you don’t buy this to be a work truck. This beauty is a show truck at this point.
Decision Time
The truck is located in Texas and according to the Carfax it spent its whole life down south, which explains the lack of any rust. The only real demerit this truck receives is that there is a small amount of oil seepage from the front part of the oil pan. This is a clean truck and the last of the OBS Chevy trucks. Do you pull the trigger at $32,500? Considering the condition and all the documentation with this truck it seems like a reasonable ask. But if you had to write the check, would you spend the money and take this baby home?
